July 19th, 2007

Stewart/Stand’s (165 Front Street) stainless steel wallets have gotten a lot of press lately. First, they were featured on Thrillist, then on Wired, and finally on Gizmodo. Designer and creator of the wallet, Theo Stewart-Stand discovered that the stainless steel used in the wallet protects from the latest concern in identity theft: RFID hackers.

Brought one for my dad and I’m afraid these wallets, though a great idea, fall apart quite quickly. Not very sturdy.

Yeah, mine is less than a year old, and under normal use it's pretty much shredded apart. They look cool, but they are not well constructed.
P.S. I have an RFID card I keep in my wallet to access my office, and it easily works right through the wallet.
