The approx. 2300 sq.ft. commercial space at the The Fulton Ferry condos is leased to Ignazio’s and is “arriving this fall”. Anyone have any info on what it is?

I’ve heard rumors that it’s going to be an Italian restaurant that will also serve pizza. Strange choice in my opinion, esp. next to Pete’s and so close to Grimaldi’s and not far from Noodle Pudding.

  2. L Says:

Yep – A pizzeria according to the developer/owner of the retail space although he had always promised no restaurant!

  3. low bmi Says:

When the space is built out there will barely be room for the oven! Pizza has been confirmed.

  4. pete Says:

So did the owners just bail on this thing or what?

  5. jessmiss Says:

Looks like it. Rumor has it that a liquor license can’t be had for that space. Not necessarily a bad thing. Probably the best bet would be to call Cheever Development in Brooklyn and start proposing a new, more appropriate user for the space. Dumbo needs so many other types of businesses instead, the last thing Dumbo need is yet another pizza/italian bar/restaurant.

  6. Grunt Says:

Yeah, too bad it ISN’T in DUMBO.

  7. mike d Says:

too bad, was looking forward to that place.

  8. Bonzaii Says:

I know the owner quite well… what do you want to know? It is not all too good from my perspective; I had to rewrite this to be nice! yet he has a good pie…(nothing like it in NY) he will open in the next few weeks.

Bonz: Please expand on what concerns you about Ignazio’s. If the pizza is great, what is “not all too good?” Why the one year wait? Was it finances? Will he be a good neighbor to the residents?

Did they get a liquor license or will it be BYOB? Is it really opening in a few weeks? I’ll believe it when I see it.

  11. Coco Says:

Why didn’t they just put a bank in that space? There is no bank in that part of dumbo and there are so many people down there (tourists and residents alike), it would have made more sense than to add another stupid pizza joint.

He’ll be open next week. Good ridence from CT, although the pie is good if you eat Pizza…

Bonzaii, please explain what you personally dislike about Ignazio’s owner? Why do you say “Good riddance?”
