bathrooms might have been done cheaply as quite often people will re-do them after they buy, even in a new construction building.

I happened upon this website and saw the comments that the “Windows are amazing”. thought you would like to know, we at Mannix took great pride in the developing a truly custom window that was designed specifically for this building. We spared no expense in materials, workmanship and preparation. We are proud of the finished product.

As a subcontractor, I rarely hear any praise, so those “amazing comments” were welcome.

I hope you enjoy the windows and your beautiful buildings for many years to come.

Apparently he has a fake fireplace with a large mosaic picture of himself in riding gear hanging above it. I got this from one of the movers who thought it was hilarious.

Are they cherry? I hope so. I saw a listing that said mahogany, and they boast “Rich stone. Exotic wood” all over the place…

That would make sense that they’re just stained oak cabinets, though. Wenge is incredibly expensive.

BrooklynBeBop, I don’t think there are any exotic woods used. The cabinets are wenge stained, not actual wenge. The floors are cherry, but I don’t consider that exotic.

I do agree, things did get sloppy, especially with caulking, but it is no worse, and a lot better, than other new construction I’ve seen. They just don’t build them like they used to.

I saw another unit and the quality of fixtures and appliances is better than expected, although I think the finishers did kind of a sloppy job in places like the closet interiors and corners of window ledges. Otherwise, it’s basically really nice.

I was however a little distressed at the reliance on exotic woods and vinyl wall coverings — isn’t everyone on the eco-conscious boat yet?! Geez.

Maybe that’s all par for the course, but hey, at least the workers were union!

How does this change the fact that this is the ugliest building I’ve seen in a LONG time.

This was the one where the builder had to scam the community board by showing a nice one, and then changed the plan at the last minute to get yet another shitbox in.

It looks like futuristic public housing. Kinda like stuytown in a space suit.
