Dumbo BID Take Kids to Mets Game
June 5th, 2007
I don’t mean to overkill on the Dumbo Improvement District today, but there have been a lot of activity over there at their Front Street office. They’ve pointed out that they’re not only about business but also about community work with kids. I’ll let their press release speak for them:
On Sunday, June 3rd, 60 students from P.S. 307 will attend a baseball game at Shea Stadium to see the New York Mets take on the Arizona Diamondbacks, as a reward for their participation in a Book-a-thon throughout the month of May. Students attending the game each read and reported on ten books. The Baseball Book-a-thon was collaborative effort amongst school administrators at P.S. 307, Councilmember Letitia James, and the Dumbo Improvement District to foster reading appreciation as well as good citizenship.
The powerHouse Arena, Dunn Development Corporation and Wireless Generation, an innovative education company headquartered in DUMBO helped make the trip to Shea possible through generous contributions.
