Let’s be fair. Give Walentas some credit. Most real estate moguls make ZERO concessions when it comes to art and culture. Especially in New York. Two Tree clearly has some respect for what makes NYC (or what MADE NYC) such a special city — artists. What he’s doing for the Gallapagos Art space sounds like a lifesavor. Guarenteed if some other big real estate king were in his place, DUMBO would be sans art period within a few years. Which is why I thank Two Trees for their efforts imperfect as they may be a times.

This is great news. Galapagos has been a destination of mine for years. And with a 15 year lease, I don’t have to worry about a condo tower going up right in front of my face. Not in this lifetime.
Main Street needs an injection of life.
And some trees, even if it’s only 2, I’ll take them.

I wonder if will Two Trees will help sound proof my windows? Because when everyone is outside smoking and partying at 3am no one living on Main Sreet will be psyched

Sounds like Walentas’ pre-emptive PR move to quiet the backlash when he demolishes St. Ann’s Warehouse to make room for his new condo.
