Brooklyn Eagle article about the Brooklyn Pigfest 2007 after the jump.

From Brooklyn Eagle (4/26/2007):

BROOKLYN — The Brooklyn Brewery announced recently that the seventh annual Brooklyn Pigfest will be held in Empire Fulton-Ferry State Parks to benefit the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy on Saturday, May 12.

The 1 to 6 p.m. festival of cold beer, live music and slow-cooked barbecue at the park’s Tobacco Warehouse will feature Sam Barbieri of Waterfront Alehouse on Atlantic Avenue, Steve Harkavy and his New York City Barbecue Team, Jeff Riley of The Smokin’ Grill, and Rob Richter and his Big Island Barbecue Team.

They will be slow-cooking whole hogs, pork shoulder, chicken and delicious BBQ side dishes. Beer will be provided by New York’s local brewery, the Brooklyn Brewery. All of these items are included with admission, and public transportation is encouraged.

Live music will be performed throughout the afternoon by The Cobble Hillbillies.

Tickets are $75 in advance through brooklynbrewery.com or $85 at the door, if available. The Tobacco Warehouse is at the corner of Water and Dock streets in DUMBO.

“We are delighted to turn the proceeds of this year’s event over to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy,” said Steve Hindy, founder and president of the brewery. “The park is the realization of a wonderful dream that was born in Brooklyn two decades ago, and Brooklyn Brewery looks forward to toasting that dream’s realization in the years ahead.”

“We are thrilled that all the sensational barbecue, beer and bluegrass for which the Brooklyn Pigfest has become famous, will help support Brooklyn Bridge Park,” said Marianna Koval, co-executive director of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “Brooklyn Brewery is both a great beer-maker and great corporate citizen, and we are grateful for their support.”

Brooklyn Brewery was founded in 1987 by Steve Hindy and Tom Potter and is currently number 34 among all breweries in the United States. Its brands are sold in 14 East Coast states. In the coming year, the company will expand to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Alabama.
