All great ideas, exciting to see the triangle coming together. Next I would prioritize the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian projects – all signage would increase ped safety but also make DUMBO an easier place for visitors to find, pump up the foot traffic and increase retail and comm revenue in the area . It would also be ideal if the street lights increased/were improved by winter, and a justifiable request if more people are out on the street:)

Some great ideas. Better lighting,nice signage, a supermarket and farmers market are all great ideas. Question as a new home buyer at 70 Washington, does anyone know of a good active DUMBO Real Estate blog/forum?

The archway is open in scenes in the movie “Once Upon A Time in America,” which was released in 1984. Don’t know if it was opened just for the shooting or what. Would assume it was originally blocked off in an effort to improve area safety from the criminal element that used to frequent the area.

halfie, there’s retail for rent for a CSA all around Jay St. – if you walk Jay St, Pearl St, Plymouth & Water around Jay St., you’ll see lots of “for rent” signs with phone #s on them.

A farmer’s market in the Pearl Street triangle would be amazing. Even more amazing would be a dumbo CSA–anybody know of any indoor community space that might be available for the purpose of housing a “community supported agriculture” distribution site?

i can’t wait. it’s not a very pedestrian-friendly neighborhood right now, especially with the influx of new residents, their cars, and their car services. they don’t know how to properly drive around here yet – i can’t tell you how many times people turn the wrong way down the one-way streets.

I haven’t lived in this area very long, and I’m probably just passing through, but can someone tell me what the deal is with the archway? Why is it closed off? How long has it been that way?

I would be shocked if we EVER saw anything done about the subway noise. We live under two bridges by choice, it is what it is.
I would vote for the Pearl Street Triangle, lights second. Seems the triangle could help lure a Public Market and hence more capital for things like more street lights.

First priority should be to reduce noice from the Subway above! THEN the Pearl Street triangle could be a usable space.

Streetscapes and lighting are definitely the highest priority. After that, I’d love to see the Pearl street and Mnhtn Bridge Arch proposals realized. The public market should be a huge success if it can get started. All great proposals.
