Bank Branches in Dumbo
September 26th, 2006

Sovereign Bank, has completed its acquisition of Independence Community Bank Corp. (”Independence”) of Brooklyn, New York. The Independence Bank branch on 40 Washington Street in Dumbo changed to a Sovereign Bank branch last week.
Also, as first reported by Peter of The Dumbo Report back in May, a Chase branch will open on the ground floor commercial space at J Condo on 100 Jay Street in late 2006 or early 2007.

Banks are ideal commercial tenants in a residential building… quiet and not open late. Excited to see what else springs up in the J.

This is really great news for us. I would definitely consider making a move from Bank of America to Chase.

My understanding, too, is that Chase will also install an additional ATM in the center of DUMBO, as well.

Hey, where is that Chase anyway? I thought it was supposed to be here already. I don’t even see a sign at J Condo for it…

J Condo got it’s TCO for the retail spaces and some of the lower floor apt units last week, so the Chase and other retail should start moving in soon.
